Plywood

MINH HANH GLOBAL – LEADING REPUTABLE PLYWOOD EXPORTER IN VIETNAM

Plywood import and export market in Vietnam is entering a very active period. While Vietnam’s plywood export volume accounts for about 2.3% of the total global export volume, on the other hand, the import level is accounted for 9.2%, makes us the 3rd biggest importer in the world.

Plywood as a construction material

Plywood as a building material is very widely used due to its many useful properties. It is an economical, factory-produced sheet of wood with precise dimensions that does not warp or crack with changes in atmospheric moisture.

Ply is an engineered wood product made from three or more ‘plies’ or thin sheets of wood. These are glued together to form a thicker, flat sheet. The logs used to make plywood as a building material are prepared by steaming or dipping in hot water. They are then fed into a lathe machine, which peels the log into thin plies of wood. each ply is usually between 1 and 4mm thick.

Plywood has a huge range of users within the construction industry: it can be used to make interior and exterior partitions or walls, flooring and packaging materials, construction formwork, and architectural decorations.

Plywood is manufactured from softwood, hardwood, or both. The hardwoods used are ash, maple, oak, and mahogany. Douglas fir is the most popular softwood for making plywood, although pine, redwood, and cedar are common. Composite plywood can also be engineered with a core of solid timber pieces or particleboard, with a wood veneer for the face and back. Composite plywood is preferable when thick sheets are required.

It can be seen that plywood has a huge potential in constructing and exporting. The main problem of Vietnamese manufacturers is the international reputation and global standards.

Vietnam – The golden chance for plywood manufacturers

Accounting for 48% of worldwide plywood consumption, the US is currently the leading country in plywood imports, followed by India with 13%, and surprisingly, Vietnam ranked 3rd with 9,2% of import volume. This shows the great potential of the domestic plywood market, and also opens up tremendous export opportunities for highly competitive businesses.

With the current Vietnamese plywood market, we have a lot of plywood factories, but most of them offer low-quality plywood for structural machines packaging, or formwork constructions. This type of product has the advantages of durability, anti-warping, and good bearing structure, however, it has not been used much in the furniture industry because its quality is not enough to meet strict demands, especially in grumpy markets. If Vietnamese enterprises can produce high quality melamine/laminates coated plywood products with flat and even surfaces, they can export to markets with strict quality requirements, not only expand domestic market share but can also conquer international markets with high export value.

According to a recent report by IndexBox, Vietnam has overtaken China to become the leading foreign supplier to the US plywood market. The value of imports of commercial plywood and hard plywood from Vietnam to the US soared in 2018-2019, reaching $ 362 million with 555 thousand cubic meters. This is the signal for a blooming period of Vietnamese plywood exporters, especially with modern and innovative enterprises like Minh Hanh Global.

Minh Hanh Global – A big export enterprise with a high reputation and experience.

Possessing modern technology lines and a team of experienced engineers, Minh Hanh brings high quality plywood products to serve the needs of the domestic market and to export to high market segments level.

Confront with the decline in market demand, especially the temporary crisis in the US market due to the influence of Covid 19, with the effects of trade remedies of Korea and the US Vietnam’s plywood export market is facing significant challenges. However, with 10 years of experience in importing and exporting building materials, Minh Hanh Global remains loyal to core values, aiming to bring high-quality products with great competitiveness to dominate the domestic market and expand international market share.

In the context that Korea decided to impose an anti-dumping tax on Vietnamese plywood and the US initiated an investigation to evade anti-dumping tax and production subsidy on Chinese plywood imported into the US from Vietnam, Minh Hanh Global has further affirmed its position with the clear origin of raw materials and outstanding production capacity, commensurate with the position and reputation of the leading corporation in importing and exporting building materials in Vietnam.
